Spring Tactics for Atlantic Salmon Fly Fishing – River Dee 🏴
Craig Macdonald is the ghillie on the Waterside and Ferrar Beat on the river Dee in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. In this video he tells us about a couple of different salmon fishing tactics he likes to use when fishing in the early spring season. Craig likes to use 14′ rods on the river Dee in the spring season and likes to use a skagit and T-Tips to get the fly down to key lies when the water is cold. The skagit offers the necessary ability to mend the fly line and hang the fly over likely taking spots. The other outfit Craig uses is a 14′ rod combines with a sinking GDC Scandi line, this slow sinking line is a great searching line in pools with even flow and the fish could be anywhere in the channel.
