    Island life

    Manda Bay is a small privately owned boutique lodge located on the northern tip of Manda Island in the Lamu archipelago on Kenya’s coast. An unspoilt, secluded location where you can switch off from the rest of the world, take your shoes off and enjoy simplistic beauty in palm thatched cottages and open living spaces. The only access to Manda Bay is by speedboat so guests can enjoy this private island all to themselves. Manda Bay combines the ultimate bush and beach experience with miles of soft white sand on a private beach and coconut palms mixed with doum palms, Acacia Tortilis and a variety of wildlife.

    Manda Bay is the perfect escape for families, honeymooners, and couples looking for the ultimate ‘no shoes, no news’ experience and is renowned for its wonderfully relaxed atmosphere with a variety of activities on offer.


  • Fishing

    A huge variety of fish

    Fishing at Manda Bay is some of the best the African coast has to offer. A variety of fishing from deep sea to skiff fishing off the shore or even walking the surf in search of a Giant Trevally or Barracuda. Manda Bay is famous for catching fantastic numbers of bill fish when out at sea. When fishing the deep sea you are very likely to come across a number of different species

    The fishing season starts in September and runs through until May. Manda Bay has its own fishing boat called Cheza which is a Lochin 33ft Sportfisher with twin 230hp engines. There is the option of a half day (6 hours) fishing or full day ( 10 hours) out on the ocean. Departure is at 6.30am. Children must be able to swim and over 5 years old and the maximum number of guests on the boat is six.

    Bed with a view and a sea breeze

    All rooms are sea facing and look out over Manda Bay. They are large open rooms with thatch roofs, no glass with large mosquito nets and overhead fans. The ensuite bathroom has a twin basin, shower and loo.



  • Food & Cuisine

    Local and fresh

    Breakfast is served in the dining room with a choice of fresh fruit, home made granola, cooked English breakfast, pancakes and toast, tea and coffee. Lunch is a ‘set’ menu of freshly caught fish or locally sourced seafood dishes with a variety of salads and vegetable dishes followed by a desert. Dinner is a set 3 course mean served outside under the stars ( weather permitting).
