Greenland fishing is very prolific. You will catch plenty of fish on your trip to Laxa lodge. Many of our guests will enjoy experimenting with different techniques and really get a chance to master the arts of fishing with surface flies, big lure flies, small nymphs and many others. The number of fish caught is totally up to you. Maybe you want to go for big numbers and stay in the more prolific rivers or perhaps you want to challenge your abilities to and play around in the larger rivers looking for bigger fish.
What will the weather be like?
Greenlands summers are pleasant and can be compare to Iceland. Warm summers with 24hrs of sun light. The early mornings and night time can be cooler but generally it is around 10-15 degrees Celsius.
We suggest you take a mixture of rods if possible. Our single handed 6wt rods are most commonly used. 7wt rods can be useful for those who like a little extra power behind their cast. a 5wt can be fun for those who like to catch fish on lighter tackle.
We nearly always use floating lines but taking a some sinking tips is recommended. The rivers are generally small and easily covered so shooting heads are not necessary.
Having a waterproof backpack is key in any fishing destination. We highly recommend taking a camera to Greenland, the views, scenery and fish are all incredibly photogenic and like nothing you have seen before. Have the camera, fly boxes, lunch and other items in a dry pack is very important.
At times the biting insects can come out. Although most fo the time the breeze is enough to keep them away it is best to be prepared. Our LOOP mygg jacket is the perfect solution to keeping the biters at bay.
