The Alphonse Group of Atolls, a nature lover’s paradise, is one of the world’s most pristine, untouched Edens. The islands in the atolls enjoy an exquisite climate and miles of unblemished shorelines, lagoons and sea flats.
Alphonse Island is one of three in the group and sits aside St. François and Bijoutier Islands. All enjoy a perfect location in the Seychelles Outer Islands, in the very heart of the Indian Ocean. Although the accommodation is on Alphonse Island, the majority of the fly fishing is done around St. François Atoll.

Fishing
The Alphonse Group is one of the most famed saltwater fly fishing destinations in the Indian Ocean, with ten thousand acres of white sand flats provide easy wading and world-class fishing.
The atolls are home to huge populations of bonefish, three different types of triggerfish, barracuda, snapper, grouper, Indo-Pacific permit, parrotfish and eight species of trevally, including the infamous giant trevally.
The most challenging fish to catch, though, is the fabled milk fish, a turbo-charged algae eater growing to 40lbs.
This diversity gives anglers the opportunity to target a myriad of different species during their stay.
The guides on Alphonse are also first class – coming from all over the world with years of experience in saltwater guiding. Their knowledge of the waters that surround Alphonse is unmatched with strict safety protocols and hard earns qualifications in boatman ship; you could not be in better hands.

Example itinerary
Day 1 – Depart Home City to Mahé
- Depart Home City on flight to Mahé – Seychelles
- Overnight in hotel – recommend Eden Bleu Hotel
Day 2 – Mahé to Alphonse island
- Depart hotel and transfer by taxi to IDC hanger
- Depart IDC on a chartered flight direct to Alphonse Island
- Arrive in Alphonse and be shown to your room before relaxing for the afternoon
- An afternoon spent setting up a gear with guides, fishing, relaxing at the bar or pool
Day 3 to Day 10 – Continued fishing
- Enjoy 6 full days of fishing and overnight stays in Seychelles
Day 11 – Depart for home city
- Transfer from hotel to the International Airport
- Continue on flight to home city

Do I need a Visa to travel in the Seychelles?
As a British citizen, you do not need to apply for a visa when travelling in Seychelles. You will be granted a 90-day free visa on arrival at Mahé.

Suitable gear
The Seychelles requires several rods to be used on a is angle weeks fishing. Flats fishing for bonefish normally requires 7wt rods. Triggerfish, permit, parrotfish and others require a 9/10wt rod, and of course, the giant trevally requires 12wt rods. Please contact us for more information.

Dry bags and rain jackets are key when travelling to the Seychelles. Your full-day will be spent out on the river on a flats skiff, the weather can get wet, and waves can splash the boat. Keeping camera equipment, fly boxes, and your lunch dry is a crucial part of the day. The Seychelles sun is brutal; covering as much skin as possible is key. Water-resistant fly boxes are a key element when fishing saltwater. The salt rusts hooks very quickly; keeping them dry will prevent having rusty hooks.
